Thankfully, there didn’t seem to be any immediate danger. The snake remained calm and didn’t put up a fight as they gently stretched it out. But the longer they looked, the clearer it became—something wasn’t right.
They could now pinpoint exactly where the swelling was. So, they contacted the vet to update her. The team was unsure of the next steps; none of them had ever seen a snake in the middle of laying eggs. But the moment the vet heard the location of the bulge, her voice shifted.
If the snake had been carrying eggs, the swelling would’ve appeared much farther down its body. Instead, this lump was sitting near the start of its stomach—an unusual and worrying place. That suggested the snake had eaten something it couldn’t properly digest or pass. But what on earth could it be?
Whatever the snake had swallowed, it clearly wasn’t supposed to, and now it looked like surgery might be the only option to save its life. Time was running out. The team asked the vet what they should do—should she come to them, or should they try to bring the snake to her? They were desperate for her to come in person.
But getting to them wouldn’t be easy. The vet didn’t have a precise location, and to make matters worse, it was peak traffic time. Still, she knew she had to find a way—every minute counted if the snake was going to survive.
One of the workers offered to go pick her up, but it would’ve taken too long. Luckily, another team member had a smarter idea. There were still staff at the company’s warehouse who knew the workers’ exact position and how to get there fast. The vet agreed to meet them at the warehouse.
Once she arrived and explained the emergency, a manager offered his help. They hopped into his off-road jeep and began the rough trek through the jungle. The vet was in for a wild ride—traveling through the Amazon rainforest is no small task.
